Quick – name three things that are fueled by Acid. Need help? Okay, here they are: (1) Car Batteries, (2) Unpleasant Sixties Flashbacks, and (3) Cancer. Wavvy Gravvy was right: "There’s some bad acid going around."
According to extensive research on the subject, Cancer thrives in an Acid-rich environment so when you eat a diet that is more Acid than Alkaline, you turn your body into an “All You Can Eat” Buffet for Cancer cells. Conversely, when you eat a diet that is more Alkaline than Acid, you not only limit one of Cancer’s favorite fuels, but you simultaneously turn your body into an environment that is downright unfriendly to Cancer.
While the accepted wisdom has long held that the healthiest diet is the one that is Acid/Alkaline Neutral, there is now a growing body of evidence suggesting that a diet that is more Alkaline than Acid is a powerful weapon in the fight against Cancer. And that is why knowing the Ph Levels (the Acid or Alkaline concentrations) of what we eat is vital information for BC Warriors.
On a standard Ph Chart, Ph Levels range from 0 to 14, with 7 being the 'Neutral Zone.' (Inner space, the final frontier!) In that 0 – 14 range, 0 to 6.9 = Acid. 7.1 – 14 = Alkaline. The lower the number, the more Acidic a food is. The higher the number, the more Alkaline it is.
To help you get a handle on this whole Acid/Alkaline Ph issue, we have created a chart that lists many common, everyday edibles, and with it, a very simple rating system. In this chart, Alkaline foods are given 'Plus' signs (+, ++, +++, or ++++), while Acidic foods are given 'Minus' signs (- , --, ---, or ----). The more Minus signs, the more Acidic the item is. The more Plus signs, the more Alkaline the item is. (For more on the benefits of Alkaline in fighting cancer, click on Alternative Treatments, and read the article entitled "Grandma’s Wisdom.")
